What We’ve Achieved with Our Rangatahi

At Te Oriori Trust, we pride ourselves on providing rangatahi with innovative and culturally grounded education experiences that prepare them for the future while connecting them to their heritage. Here are some of the impactful projects and initiatives we've undertaken with our rangatahi:

Bringing History to Life Through AI

Our rangatahi have used cutting-edge AI technology to create illustrations for purakau (ancestral stories). This innovative approach allows them to engage deeply with history and matauranga Maori in a way that is creative, interactive, and efficient. By visualizing these stories, rangatahi not only learn about their whakapapa but also gain valuable skills in digital technology, preparing them for modern career opportunities while strengthening their connection to Te Ao Maori.

Custom Learning Resources for Schools

Makes history lessons more engaging and accessible, ensuring rangatahi have tools that cater to diverse learning styles and preferences.

Achieving NCEA Success Through Mau Rakau

Our mau rakau program supports rangatahi in earning NCEA credits across Levels 1, 2, and 3, while fostering discipline, leadership, and cultural pride. By mastering traditional Maori weaponry, they learn essential skills such as focus, coordination, and teamwork, which are reflected in their academic achievements.
